UNIT DEFINITION

One cellulase unit (U) is defined as the amount of enzyme which liberates 1 micromole reducing sugar per minute from 4 mg/ml sodium carboxymethylcellulose solution at 50°C and at pH 4.8 under the conditions of the test.

FUNCTIONS

Eliminate anti-nutritional factors present in grains or vegetables, and increase the nutritional value of feed.

Improve feed utilization, milk yield and body weight gain of ruminants.
